Connect Plus

Connect Plus supports disabled people to enjoy leisure activities in the local community. Volunteers provide support on activities organised by understanding staff. Activities take place during the evenings and at weekends
Evenings, 2 group activities take place on a week day evening with between 5 and 15 members attending. These activities take place in accessible venues around the local community. Alternatively members may wish to request a volunteer to support them on a specific event or activity outside of a group, for example going to a theatre show.
Weekends, usually 3 group activities are arranged per month. 1 is a full day trip taking place at various places of interest throughout the northwest area. The 2nd is a shorter local event or activities usaully lasting a couple of hours. The 3rd is a Sunday Pub Lunch at an accessible local Pub within Stockport
Membership is open to all adults aged 18+ who have a primary physical or sensory disability, are residents of Stockport Metropolitan Borough and need support to take part in everyday leisure activities. Members can choose what activities and events they want to do either as part of a group or on their own with the support of a volunteer.
Volunteers are poeple from the local community who have decided to offer some of their spare time to support the activities and events chosen by the members.Volunteers can be aged from 16 years, and receive training to enable them to give competent support to members.
