Meetings will be held on Wednesdays, between 10.30 and 12.30pm, at a venue to be advised.

Aims and Objectives

The Forum is made up of organisations and individuals with an interest in disability. Meeting quarterly, its main objectives are to provide a networking and consultation opportunity for partnership working and to develop practical solutions to the many issues concerning disabled people in Stockport.

It is a cross-agency forum with representation from statutory, voluntary and community organisations and the private sector. It aims to assist in developing a strategic and co-ordinated approach to disability issues in line with the Stockport Compact. The Compact sets out guidance for partnership working between Statutory Services and the Voluntary and Community Sectors.

Main forum meetings take place quarterly at the Friends Meeting House, Cooper Street-off Higher Hillgate, Stockport. Meetings are open and an invitation is not required . The Venue is accessible and refreshments are provided. BSL signers are available providing notice is given.

Meetings are chaired by Councillor Dr. Chris Gordon and facilitated by Disability Stockport.

Further sub-group and working groups meet regularly to pursue ongoing issues. Currently there are groups working on:

 

Transport and Access Group Meetings

 

There is also a permanent sub-group for Transport and Access that meets on the second Wednesday of each month, between 2.00pm - 4.00pm in Committee Room 3 at Stockport Town Hall.

The meeting on May 13th will be held in Committee Room 1.
